In April 2016, the U.S. Consulate General in Jerusalem began its support for the SOS Youth Engagement Project & Career Guidance Project, which enables the 40 youth between the ages of 14 and 18, who live at SOS Children’s Villages Bethlehem, to gain the skills to become independent adults who will contribute positively to Palestinian society. Activities included in the project are volunteerism, career guidance, life skills training, after-school tutoring and a 4-month English language course. The project aims to encourage integration of SOS youth within Palestinian society, to strengthen the academic abilities of SOS youth in essential subjects, to equip SOS youth with life skills and prepare SOS youth for university and better career opportunities.
