SOS Children's Villages adheres to the safeguarding policies adopted by its Global Federation. These policies include the Code of Conduct, the Child and Youth Safeguarding Policy, the Policy on Preventing Harassment, Abuse and Sexual Exploitation, and the Policy on Combating Exploitation and Corruption.
Child safeguarding is a fundamental aspect of our operations and programme work. Our SOS Care Promise articulates our commitment to create a safe environment for children and young people, and our Child Protection Policy and accompanying procedures are mandatory across the entire SOS Children’s Villages federation.
Our Child Safeguarding approach is about: Minimizing risks through awareness raising and prevention and managing incidents through reporting and responding to these.
The term child safeguarding includes all activities that the organization undertakes to ensure that:
- Its co-workers, operations, and programs do no harm to children and do not expose them to the risk of harm and abuse.
- Appropriate responses and effective management of child safeguarding concerns are in place.
- Any concerns about children´s safety in our programs or within the communities we work in are reported to the appropriate authorities.
