265 people - children, caregivers, and staff - had to relocate from the SOS Children's Village in Rafah at the end of May and have since lived in tented encampments in southern and central Gaza. We have done everything in our power to protect and support them in displacement, creating the best possible conditions for children and families in dire circumstances. Today, they are facing yet another relocation as the tanks and explosions are getting closer to the camps.
'We are extremely concerned. Our priority is to try as much as possible to keep the children safe and to move them and their caregivers. Some of the children have moved several times already, and they may need to relocate again. Given the incredibly challenging situation, we are still trying to identify a safer place,' says Ghada Hirzallah, National director of SOS Children's Villages in Palestine.
About 90% of Gaza's population - around 1.9 million people - have been displaced at least once during the war.
