As part of the Education in Emergency Project, the SOS Children’s Villages team distributed 1,125 school bags to children at Hermann Gmeiner School and Ghassan Kanafani School in the temporary learning space.
Each bag included full stationery supplies along with fun recreational items like snakes and ladders, clay, a ball, and coloring materials; to help ease stress and support the children in starting the new school year with energy and hope.
In addition, part of these bags was distributed to children who had attended psychosocial support sessions, making this effort a part of a wider response that combines education, mental health support, and safe play.
The distribution took place in several locations, especially the community surrounding SOS camp location: Al-Ittihad Camp, Al-Shouka Camp, Al-Wafaa Village Camp, and Al-Mawasi Shelter School.
Bilal Al-Naem, Emergency Projects Coordinator in Gaza, shared:
"Each bag was more than just school supplies—it was a message of love and care for every child."
