Partnership for Hope: Supporting 500 Palestinian Families through Cooperation between SOS Children’s Villages and the Ministry of Social Development

SOS Children’s Villages Palestine, represented by its National Director, Mrs. Ghada Hirzallah, signed an agreement with the Palestinian Ministry of Social Development, represented by H.E. Minister Dr. Samah Hamad, in the presence of representatives from both sides during a visit to the Ministry’s headquarters in Ramallah.

The agreement aims to support 500 families registered with the Ministry of Social Development in the governorates of Bethlehem and Hebron. This support comes amid the difficult conditions facing Palestinian society, within the framework of the Community Empowerment Project in the South of the West Bank, funded by SOS Children’s Villages Worldwide. Under this agreement, the organization will provide food aid vouchers and winter clothing for children in these families.

The signing took place alongside the organization’s delegation visit to the Ministry to discuss several strategic issues related to children who have lost parental care with the Ministry’s Undersecretary, Mr. Taha Al-Irani, in addition to exploring community development approaches that meet the needs of society, forming the core mission shared by both the Ministry and the organization.

Mrs. Ghada Hirzallah emphasized that this initiative comes as part of the organization’s commitment to supporting Palestinian communities, especially during these challenging times. She noted that the project aims to contribute to the social and economic stability of families most affected by unemployment and economic decline due to the current situation, and to strengthen hope among affected families through assistance within the available means. She also affirmed that this agreement builds upon the strategic relationship between the organization and the Ministry toward achieving their shared mission.

H.E. Minister Dr. Samah Hamad praised the organization’s pioneering role in providing unique services to both marginalized families and children who have lost parental care, stressing that the Ministry is continuously working to develop its emergency response plans across the West Bank and Gaza Strip, through strategic partnerships with key institutions—including SOS Children’s Villages Palestine.
