Statement from SOS Children’s Villages Palestine on the Current Situation

Children and families in Palestine are experiencing heightened fear and uncertainty due to the ongoing regional escalation. SOS Children’s Villages Palestine is closely monitoring the rapidly evolving situation across the Palestinian territories, which continues to have a profound impact on children, families, and caregivers across our programmes and their sense of safety and stability.

For many children in the West Bank, the latest escalation has brought heightened fear, uncertainty, and disruption to daily life. Increased military presence, movement restrictions, and the risk of indirect dangers such as falling debris from interceptions which created an atmosphere of anxiety that deeply affects children’s sense of safety and stability. Families are facing growing economic pressure and psychological strain, while caregivers continue working tirelessly to maintain a safe and supportive environment for the children in their care.

In response, SOS Children’s Villages Palestine has taken precautionary measures to strengthen the safety and wellbeing of children, young people, caregivers, and staff. Safety procedures have been reinforced across our programmes, movement has been minimized where necessary, and teams remain in close coordination to monitor the situation and respond quickly to any changes.

These measures are designed first and foremost to protect children. Caregivers continue providing daily routines, emotional support, and psychosocial care to help children cope with stress and uncertainty. Maintaining stability in the children’s homes, continuing educational and recreational activities when possible, and ensuring access to support services are all essential steps to safeguard their wellbeing during this difficult period.

“Our priority is the safety and emotional wellbeing of every child in our care,” said the National Director of SOS Children’s Villages Palestine. “Even in the midst of uncertainty, our caregivers and staff remain committed to providing children with the protection, stability, and reassurance they need. Children should not have to carry the weight of war.”

SOS Children’s Villages Palestine remains committed to standing by children and families affected by the crisis. Through Emergency Response in West Bank and Gaza , family strengthening, education and psychosocial support, our teams continue to work to prevent family separation and support vulnerable households.

At this critical time, the solidarity of our partners and supporters is more important than ever. Continued support helps ensure that children can remain in safe and caring environments and that families facing hardship receive the assistance they need to stay together.
