SOS Children’s Villages launching a new project to support the resilience of vulnerable families in the West Bank

SOS Children’s Villages Palestine has launched the project “Strengthening the socio-economic and mental resilience of vulnerable families in the West Bank”, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and implemented over four years until 2029 in the Bethlehem and Hebron governorates, in partnership with 12 grassroots and civil society organizations.
The launch event was inaugurated by the National Director of SOS Children’s Villages Palestine, Mrs. Ghada Hirzallah, who welcomed representatives from partner associations and the organization’s staff. She emphasized the importance of this collaboration in enhancing the impact and sustainability of community-based interventions.
She stated: “This project comes in response to the growing challenges faced by the most vulnerable families. It aims to strengthen their resilience and coping capacities through integrated interventions that address psychological, social, and economic dimensions, in partnership with local community institutions that we value as essential partners in achieving sustainable impact.”
She added: “We believe that investing in family resilience is an investment in the future of society as a whole. Through this project, we work to empower families, children, and youth to overcome challenges and build more stable and dignified lives.”
It is worth noting that the project will focus on strengthening the capacities of grassroots organizations to deliver high-quality mental health and psychosocial support services, while also providing specialized assistance to hundreds of families. It will further target children to enhance their opportunities for safe growth, learning, and play, in addition to empowering young women and men by improving access to vocational training and strengthening their economic independence.
