Rawan Sweets , a project that sees light because of her strength

Five years ago, when she joined the Family Strengthening Program, Rawan said:
“I want to build a profession for myself… I want to be able to provide for my children with my own hands.”

During one of our field visits five years ago, we met a family consisting of a mother, her husband, and two children aged six and eight. The family was living under severe psychological and economic pressure, turning their home into a space filled with anxiety and fear of the future. There was no stable source of income, and the mother was carrying the responsibility of caring for the children on her own, unable to meet their basic needs.
That is where the story began.

The mother had no professional experience, but she carried a deep passion for making sweets. What started as a simple hobby practiced in a humble kitchen became her turning point. She enrolled in a specialized vocational institute for Eastern and Western pastry. The training was intensive, long, and exhausting, yet she never missed a single day. She would return home carrying more hope than disappointment

She earned her professional certificate, a day that felt like a new birth. She began working from her small kitchen, preparing her products with love and selling them to neighbors and acquaintances. The beginning was small, but it was a sparkling hope.

Over time, the program supported her project by providing essential tools and electrical equipment, closely following her progress and strengthening her self-confidence. Gradually, orders increased, and her name became known as a hardworking and talented pastry maker.

The biggest transformation came later, when the organization supported her in obtaining a small caravan. Through great effort and dedication, the caravan was converted into a fully equipped sweets and pastry workshop, providing everything she needed for her work. Her project was no longer just home-based; it had become a real business.

She began participating in local bazaars and events and was invited to take part in Eid markets and various occasions. Standing proudly behind her table, watching people taste what she had made with her own hands, she felt that the world was finally recognizing her abilities.

Even her husband began to support and assist her inside the caravan. His outlook changed, and the family became a united team once again. As for the two children, they now live in a home filled with safety and reassurance.

Today, after five years of hard work, perseverance, and continuous support, Rawan has become an inspiring role model. Her project continues to grow, and her ambition grows with it. She always says with a big smile:
“You were the reason my life changed… I was losing hope, but now I am planning to expand my project, and I truly believe I am capable of achieving even more.”
